I wonder what could happen to Jalopnik and Oppo if the worst case senerio happens.

And nothing of value will be lost. Oppo can move somewhere else.

You guys are SO done
Outlook: Denton isn’t ruling out a “disaster” scenario for the site. He has acknowledged that the jury, plucked from the Florida community that Hogan calls home, might well be unsympathetic to a sensationalist digital tabloid based in Manhattan and built on snark.
Unsympathetic?

Hypocricy so think you can cut it with a knife. They’ll lambast anyone who posted or hosted pictures of any celebrity from that iCloud hack, but they were more than willing to fight for the right to host a leaked private sext tape on their own page.

I guess we’ll just move. I really don’t know.

Jalopnik existed pre-Gawker, it could exist in a post-Gawker world.

We shall wander the wastes, a force of nature, seeking out what little petrol(head) there is.

So, Oppo without Gawker?

If this happens and Oppo goes down with the ship, I’ll turn completely to GRM.

I imagine we’ll club together and move over to another platform. We’d probably struggle to get new authors without being on kinja though.

We're not associated with Gawker, not even with Jalopnik anymore so we could probably just move or stay here, idk really.

We do run on their servers though, so if they’re forced to shut down then Oppo would probably go along with it no?

I think kinja dies with Gawker so we’d lose the servers hosting us.

Gawker is the parent company of all the sub blogs. I’m guessing that if they tank the whole system does.

Yeah seems that way. I doubt we’ll let oppo die either way though.

With all the talented people that frequent Oppo, a way will be found to keep it afloat.
![]() 06/18/2015 at 10:31 |

Yeah we’d most likely have to move to another server if we wanted to keep Oppo running.

Yeah we'd probably just have to find a new server to host us, that is if we want to keep Oppo running.

Or use a different free blogging platform.

Except it didn’t? It’s always been a gawker site.

I wouldn’t stress too much, I doubt they’ll pull this off.

So it has.
I guess it wasn’t as tied into the network as it is now, wasn’t as noticeable.

Eh, there is a some what high level of risk due to the location of the lawsuit. I doubt a verdict in favor of Hulk Hogan would survive apeal, but due to Florida’s law requiring that the 100 million (or what ever the judgement is) being held in escrow until everything is sorted out could ruin Gawker.

There wasn’t as many cross-posts and such, but they all had the same exact layout/look/commenting system so you could tell they were somewhat related. The websites have gotten much closer in the past few years though.
